Rays acquire Jankowski from White Sox, place McClanahan on 60-day IL

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Travis Jankowski from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced Saturday.

Left-hander Shane McClanahan was placed on the 60-day injured list with a nerve issue in a corresponding move.

Jankowski appeared in seven games for the White Sox before he was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte in April. The 33-year-old slashed .214/.267/.214 in those contests.

The 2023 World Series winner has played for seven different teams throughout his 11-year career, authoring a .235/.319/.304 slash line with 102 steals in 688 games.

McClanahan hasn't pitched this season. He was placed on the injured list with left triceps inflammation during spring training.

The 27-year-old last appeared in a big-league game in 2023 and spent 17 months recovering from Tommy John before returning this spring.

McClanahan is one of baseball's top starters when healthy. He posted a 3.02 ERA and 10.1 K/9 in 74 starts between 2021-2023.

The Rays also optioned infielder Coco Montes to Triple-A Durham on Saturday.
