Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong received an undisclosed fine following his verbal altercation with a spectator during Sunday's loss to the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field, sources told Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Crow-Armstrong apologized Monday for his "choice of words" after a female White Sox fan heckled him during the fifth inning.

"Directly or indirectly, I don't think that any of the women in my life would think I would say those kinds of words regularly," the 24-year-old All-Star said. "I'm just bummed out about the word choice and a bunch of little kids going to social media and seeing that as well."

Crow-Armstrong reportedly avoided a suspension for the heated exchange. However, MLB fined and banned major leaguers Tommy Pham and Dennis Santana last season for incidents with fans during games.
