Minnesota Twins star outfielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hip strain, the team announced Tuesday.
Buxton's injury means he will likely miss the All-Star Game on July 14. Fans voted him in as a starting outfielder for the American League.
The 32-year-old aggravated a previous hip ailment on a steal attempt during Sunday's 6-1 win over the New York Yankees. That occasion marked the first time he was caught stealing in 38 tries since May 2024.
"We dealt with the hip earlier in the year, gave it some time and it calmed down, and then gave it some time again, and it re-aggravated," manager Derek Shelton said, according to The Associated Press. "I just think with where we're at in the schedule, how he's feeling, knowing that he was going to be down a few days, it was probably the best-case scenario for everybody."
Buxton has recorded 25 homers with 45 RBIs and a .904 OPS in 75 games this season. He played a career-high 126 contests in 2025 after years of injury issues.
The Twins recalled outfielder Alan Roden to replace Buxton on the active roster.
Minnesota enters Tuesday's action 1.5 games out of the AL's final wild-card spot.
