Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras joined the field for next Monday's Home Run Derby at Citizen Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Contreras, who's also going to the All-Star Game as a replacement, is attempting to become only the second player in Red Sox history to win the event. Hall of Famer David Ortiz was victorious in 2010 in Anaheim.

The 34-year-old has hit 20 homers in 87 games this year amid a career campaign. Contreras' single-season career high is 24, set in 2019 with the Chicago Cubs.

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone also announced Wednesday that he's participating in the Home Run Derby.

Caglianone will be the first Royal to take part since Bobby Witt Jr. finished as the runner-up during the 2024 event in Texas.

The 23-year-old slugger has 14 homers in 85 games this season. He sits in the 98th percentile for hard-hit percentage, 97th in bat speed, 96th in average exit velocity, and 92nd for barrel rate.

Caglianone and Contreras join New York Yankees slugger Ben Rice and Tampa Bay Rays star Junior Caminero.

The Home Run Derby still has four spots remaining.
