Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez doesn't wish to comment on his race for the Triple Crown and would prefer to let his production do the talking.
"I'm just focused right now on playing ball," Alvarez told reporters after Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins, including MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. "There's more than two months remaining in the season, so I'm not going to talk anymore about the Triple Crown. I don't want to answer any more questions about the Triple Crown."
Alvarez launched an opposite-field two-run homer in the eighth inning of the contest to give Houston the lead. The Astros ultimately held on to top the Marlins and complete the three-game sweep.

Alvarez's late-game shot brought him to a league-leading 34 home runs on the season, and he's now just three away from tying his career high of 37, which he set in 2022. Additionally, Alvarez currently leads the majors in RBIs (77) and sits atop the American League in batting average (.328), putting him on pace to secure the prestigious Triple Crown.
Miguel Cabrera most recently accomplished the feat, recording a .330 batting average, 44 home runs, and 139 RBIs with the Detroit Tigers in 2012.
"(Alvarez is) the best hitter in baseball right now," Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara said after his start versus Houston.
The Astros are 50-54 on the year and sit two games back of the AL West-leading Texas Rangers as they head into a weekend series against the Chicago White Sox.
