The Baltimore Orioles traded outfielder Taylor Ward to the Seattle Mariners for right-handed reliever Alex Hoppe, as well as minor-league righties Brock Moore and Harrison Kreiling, the teams announced Monday.
Ward, 32, is hitting .246/.383/.346 with seven homers and four stolen bases over 111 games this season.
"He has proven to be a consistent performer that is among the very best in the league at getting on base," Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said in a statement. "We are thrilled to be adding a player of his caliber to our team."
The Orioles acquired the former first-rounder from the Los Angeles Angels this past offseason for Grayson Rodriguez. Ward is eligible for free agency for the first time this winter.
Hoppe, 27, made his major-league debut this season, posting a 5.79 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 28 innings while making 24 appearances.
Moore, 26, possesses a 3.72 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 38 2/3 innings (31 relief appearances) over two minor-league levels.
Kreiling, 24, made his professional debut this season after being selected in the 17th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He has a 1.69 ERA in four starts between Rookie and A-ball.
