The New York Mets traded right-hander Clay Holmes and outfielder Tyrone Taylor to the Chicago Cubs for top infield prospect Jefferson Rojas, the clubs announced Monday.
Holmes is nearing a return from a fractured fibula sustained in mid-May. He threw 73 pitches Sunday in his third rehab start.
The two-time All-Star authored a 2.39 ERA with 1.10 WHIP and 7.7 K/9 over 52 2/3 innings (nine starts) before his injury. The 33-year-old owns a $12-million player option for 2027.
Taylor, a pending free agent, has gone deep 10 times with 28 RBIs and a .794 OPS across 67 games in 2026. Defensively, he sits in the 85 percentile in arm strength and 74th for arm value.
Rojas was the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Cubs' minor-league system and 63rd in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
The 21-year-old has hit 15 homers with 57 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, and a .799 OPS in 91 Double-A games this season.
