The New York Yankees acquired outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants for left-hander Henry Lalane and shortstop Kaeden Kent, the teams announced Monday.
New York was on the hunt for a right-handed bat, and Ramos, who owns a career .847 OPS against left-handed pitching, fits the bill.
Ramos is slashing .264/.304/.424 with 25 extra-base hits and 34 RBIs in 74 games this year. The 2024 All-Star hit 20-plus homers in back-to-back campaigns prior to this season.
The 26-year-old isn't eligible for free agency until 2030.
Ramos is the second bat the Yankees added at the deadline after they traded for slugging infielder Luis García Jr. on Sunday. New York is playing without Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton, all of whom are injured.
Lalane is a 22-year-old southpaw with starting experience who authored a 2.78 ERA and 11.3 K/9 in 78 minor-league innings this season. He was the Yankees' No. 5-ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
The 22-year-old Kent is the son of former Giants great Jeff Kent. He's slashed .302/.359/.433 with 43 RBIs and 20 steals in the minors this season. MLB Pipeline ranked him as the Yankees' No. 13 prospect.
