The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals will take part in the next Field of Dreams game Aug. 12, 2027, in Dyersville, Iowa, MLB announced Friday.

It'll mark the first time the event is held in back-to-back seasons since the game went on hiatus from 2023-25 for the construction of a new stadium.

The Red Sox and Royals are participating in the Field of Dreams game for the first time.

"To have the Red Sox take the field in Iowa, in a place that reminds us why people fall in love with baseball, will be incredibly special," Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said in a statement. "Part of what has allowed baseball to endure for generations is its ability to evolve while still holding onto the traditions, memories, and shared experiences that give the game its meaning."

Kansas City will be the home team. The series will resume Aug. 14 at Kauffman Stadium.

"We are thrilled to showcase our athletes through one of Major League Baseball's most cherished events and help to grow the game to a worldwide audience," Royals president of business operations Cullen Maxey said. "Royals territory already covers the Midwest, including Dyersville, so this is a natural fit that provides Royals fans a chance to cheer on the home team in a magical setting."

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Minnesota Twins in Thursday's Field of Dreams game. The Chicago Cubs took on the Cincinnati Reds in 2022, while the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox faced off in the inaugural event in 2021.
