Colorado Rockies outfielder Cole Carrigg wasn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves for disciplinary reasons.
Carrigg will be benched for "a couple days" for making an inappropriate gesture toward Braves fans at Truist Park during Saturday's contest, Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer announced, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com.
The 24-year-old rookie flipped off spectators after failing to make a diving catch in the eighth inning with the Rockies up by one. The Braves scored two runs on the double, which ended up being the difference in a 2-1 victory.

"Cole made a mistake - he knows that is an embarrassment to the organization and that we don't stand for that," Schaeffer said Sunday. "Everybody makes mistakes. It's just one that he has to learn from. It's just that we will not put up with that here."
Carrigg expressed regret for his actions.
"First, I apologize to my teammates and the organization - that's not how I want to represent us," he said. "That's inexcusable on my part."
Carrigg owns six homers with 36 RBIs and a .789 OPS over 67 games this season.
