The Pittsburgh Pirates activated rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin from the 60-day injured list, the team announced Friday, according to Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Griffin missed the last 50 games after suffering a finger ligament injury in early July.
The Pirates went 23-27 without their 20-year-old phenom, who entered the season as baseball's top-ranked prospect.
Griffin has five homers with 25 RBIs, 20 stolen bases, and a .736 OPS over 59 games this season. He's missed 72 contests in all, as he was sidelined for 22 games from late May to late June because of a forearm flexor strain.
Pittsburgh also recalled reliever Isaac Mattson, optioned left-hander Brandon Eisert, and designated catcher Christian Bethancourt for assignment amid the roster shuffle.
The Pirates entered Friday's action five games out of the NL's final wild-card spot.
