Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage will start Monday against the Baltimore Orioles, manager John Schneider announced Saturday.
Yesavage is expected to give the Blue Jays 45-50 pitches over three innings, Schneider said, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling. Spencer Miles is expected to follow Yesavage.
The 23-year-old has been rehabbing in the minors after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus in left knee. Earlier this week, Yesavage said he was ready for his next outing to be in the major leagues after his knee felt good following Tuesday's rehab outing.
Yesavage would provide the Blue Jays with a fresh arm as they attempt to secure the final wild-card spot in the American League. Toronto has relied on a three-man rotation and bullpen games of late due to injuries. Ace Dylan Cease lasted just 2 2/3 innings during Friday's loss to the Texas Rangers.
Before his injury, Yesavage posted a 5-5 record with a 3.65 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 18 starts.
