Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease will miss his start Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles after undergoing an MRI on his shoulder, manager John Schneider said Sunday, according to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae.
Cease said his shoulder has felt "fatigued."
Schneider wouldn't rule out the possibility that Cease might start against the Cincinnati Reds during the final series of the Blue Jays' season.
Cease left Friday's start against the Texas Rangers after 2 2/3 innings. He issued six walks and recorded the lowest fastball velocity of his career during the outing.
The 30-year-old has pitched well during his first campaign with the Blue Jays, authoring a 2.40 ERA with 239 strikeouts in 169 innings.
Toronto enters Sunday three games back of the Chicago White Sox for the final wild-card spot in the American League.
