Judge has been out since Sept. 16 with a calf strain. Although the three-time AL MVP tried to return for the start of the playoffs, he'll continue rehabbing and aim to come back for the ALDS if the Yankees advance.
The 34-year-old played in only 66 regular-season games due to a rib injury. He went deep 18 times with an .871 OPS.
New York will get oft-injured slugger Giancarlo Stanton back against the Red Sox, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
The Yankees could deploy the five-time All-Star as a pinch hitter because he hasn't played since April 24 due to multiple calf injuries, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
Game 1 of the series starts Tuesday in New York.
