NBA players will have the choice to translate selected social justice messaging on the backs of jerseys into a non-English language, sources told Yahoo's Chris Haynes. Players would have to choose from the list of options approved by the league and the union last week.

The NBA and NBPA reportedly agreed to 29 specific messages. One of them, "Si Se Puede" (Yes We Can) is in Spanish. Any translation would be done using the English alphabet with no more than 16 characters, according to Haynes.

The allowance is being made for players to express themselves in the wake of social unrest in the United States. Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said Monday that the approved options are too limited.
