The Los Angeles Clippers are already dealing with the injury bug.

Newly acquired forward Brandon Ingram won't be ready for the start of the season after doctors found a previously undisclosed partial Achilles tendon tear during his heel surgery in May, interim general manager Trent Redden told reporters Monday, including ESPN's Ben Golliver.

Ingram, who was part of the Kawhi Leonard trade, missed the Toronto Raptors' last two playoff games due to heel inflammation.

The Duke product is recovering from an offseason procedure that addressed both issues.

"It wasn't until we got our hands on (Ingram) here that we started to see where he was at with his progression," Redden said. "He won't be ready for the start of the season, and we'll reevaluate when we get there."

Ingram enjoyed a resurgent campaign during his lone season north of the border, averaging 21.5 points on 47.7% shooting and earning his second career All-Star nod.

Clippers guard Bradley Beal also won't be ready for the start of training camp after experiencing right knee inflammation after undergoing surgery on his left hip.

Beal was shut down after six appearances last season due to a fractured hip. The 14-year veteran averaged a career-low 8.2 points on 37.5% shooting during his brief time on the court.

The Clippers re-signed Beal in August to a two-year, $13.2-million contract with a player option for the second season.

Los Angeles is already without Jordan Miller for at least six months after he underwent offseason surgery for a torn left rotator cuff.
