Drew Mestemaker is headed to Oklahoma State with coach Eric Morris.

The former North Texas quarterback has committed to the Cowboys for the 2026 season, he told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Mestemaker will follow Morris, who's also joining Oklahoma State this year after a successful stint as the Mean Green's head coach.

"I think just the relationships that I've built there with coach Morris, (offensive coordinator Sean) Brophy, and that whole staff, offense and defense," Mestemaker said. "Coach Morris is the best play-caller in the nation. The insight he has, and the way he sees offense, and the way he makes me at quarterback comfortable in everything we are running."

The redshirt freshman QB is coming off an excellent 2025 campaign in which he completed 68.9% of his passes for 34 touchdowns and an FBS-leading 4,379 yards.

The arrivals of Morris and Mestemaker mark standout splashes for the Cowboys, who are kicking off a new era after firing Mike Gundy following 20-plus seasons. They'll presumably fix an Oklahoma State offense that averaged 14.2 points per game in 2025.

The Cowboys won only four games in the past two campaigns, including just one in '25.
