Jimmy Garoppolo is back under center for the San Francisco 49ers.

The veteran quarterback is set to start Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts after being removed from the injury report, the team announced Friday.

Garoppolo missed San Francisco's Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals due to a calf injury. He had extra time to recover for Week 7 with the 49ers coming off a bye.

Rookie Trey Lance, who replaced the veteran passer versus Arizona, is dealing with a knee sprain and has been ruled out for Sunday's contest, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. Nate Sudfeld will serve as the 49ers' backup against Indy.

The 29-year-old Garoppolo is 2-2 this season and completed 66.1% of his passes while posting a passer rating of 96.9 before being sidelined.

Lance, who only logged situational appearances through the first four games of the season, threw for 192 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in his lone start against the Cardinals.

Garoppolo likely won't have his best offensive lineman available on Sunday Night Football, as left tackle Trent Williams is listed as doubtful due to ankle and elbow injuries.
