Maple Leafs get Matthews back vs. Bruins
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is in the lineup Saturday against the Boston Bruins.
He missed Toronto's last six games after aggravating an upper-body injury Dec. 20. He sat out nine contests earlier in the campaign with the ailment.
"The last couple skates I've had have felt good," Matthews said, according to TSN's Chris Johnston.
Matthews hopes to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers as well, according to Postmedia's Lance Hornby.
He came into Saturday with 11 goals and 23 points in 24 games this season. Matthews recorded a career-high 69 goals and 107 points last year.
He isn't certain he'll fully recover from the injury this campaign.
"I don't know. I hope so," Matthews said Wednesday. "That's obviously the goal. It's tricky with these things sometimes. It's a physical sport, it's a contact sport, so things happen out there sometimes that are out of your control. So I'm just trying to manage it as best as I can, and we can, and you just go from there."
Toronto is 10-5-0 without Matthews this season.
