Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin is taking a temporary leave from the team to be with his fiancee in Sweden, head coach Lindy Ruff announced Friday.
Dahlin's financee, Carolina, underwent a lifesaving heart transplant over the summer. Ruff said Dahlin assured him everything's OK before the star blue-liner headed back to his home country.
There's no timeline on when Dahlin may return.
Dahlin has nine points in 14 games this season while averaging over 24 minutes per contest. He was one of six players named in June to Sweden's preliminary Olympic roster.
The Sabres are 5-5-4 this campaign.
