Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson took responsibility for his team's Game 3 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.

Hutson committed a costly turnover before the game-winner. His soft pass into the middle of the ice on the breakout was picked off by Andrei Svechnikov, who eventually buried the deciding goal.

Hutson praised Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes, who stopped 35 of 38 shots, before expressing remorse for letting his teammate down.

"He's been great all playoffs," Hutson said postgame. "Not surprised. He battles so hard. It sucks that I just blew it for him, but it is what it is."

He added: "It would be nice to be up 2-1, but we're not because of me."

Hutson scored the game-tying goal for the Canadiens in the second period. He's up to 15 points in 17 games this postseason, tied for most among NHL defensemen. However, his 27 giveaways are also tied for the most among all skaters in the playoffs.
