Sue Bird retiring at end of season
The Storm drafted Bird first overall in 2002, and she's played her entire 21-campaign career in Seattle, missing two seasons with injury. She's made the All-WNBA team eight times and has won four championships with the Storm, the latest coming in 2020.
The 41-year-old also has a decorated career with the national squad, winning five gold medals as a member of Team USA since 2004.
Bird holds numerous WNBA records, including assists (3,048), All-Star Game appearances (12), and games played (559 and counting).
The Storm own a 9-5 record this season, good for second in the Western Conference. Seattle looks to extend its winning streak to five games Friday against the Connecticut Sun.
