Britton would love to return to Yankees next season: 'One of my top choices'

When the 2018 season concludes, left-hander Zach Britton is expected to be one of the most sought-after free-agent relievers on the open market. Yet a return to the Big Apple is certainly on the 30-year-old's radar.

"I'm sure we'll kind of see where they are and where we are, but I would definitely love to be back," Britton told Brendan Kuty of NJ.com. "I don't know where they are in terms of arbitration raises and all that, but this would definitely be one of my top choices."

Britton not only mentioned the Yankees' success as a reason he'd like to return, but also explained how well the organization has treated his family since his arrival from the Baltimore Orioles in a July trade.

"And that's one of the things I've been most impressed with, how they have taken care of my wife and the kids," he described. "That's a huge component people don't realize that. But if I know they're taken care of when I go to the stadium, it makes it easier for me to go out there and do what I need to do.

"The amount of staff they have here, everyone knows your name when you come in. ... The kids room that they have, it's a full-on daycare for all age groups. The wives suite - in Baltimore, I had to pay for the wives suite. Here, it's given to the wives, a place for them to go and kind of get away. They have a staff that are licensed to take care of the kids, and there are activities for them and they're not just in a room playing."

Britton has been effective of late after a shaky start to his Yankees tenure. He hasn't allowed an earned run in eight appearances since Aug. 31, limiting opposing hitters to a .115 average in September.
