Luis Severino, Gerrit Cole, and Nolan Arenado headline a group of 15 players who could be heading to arbitration after failing to agree on a salary for the 2019 season with their respective clubs by Friday's deadline.
Arenado, a free agent at season's end, is poised to make history after filing for arbitration at what would be a record $30 million. The Houston Astros, meanwhile, appear to be headed to arbitration with three players, which would be the most hearings for any team this year.
Clubs and players have the next several weeks to find a middle ground before facing an arbitration hearing. If they're unwilling to come to terms, a panel of arbitrators will decide a salary by choosing one of the wages filed by either the player or the team.
