The New York Yankees and New York Mets plan to return to their respective spring training sites in Florida to conduct the second round of warmups and exhibition play, assuming the league and union reach an agreement on the parameters of a 2020 season, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
New York has been the hardest-hit state by the coronavirus pandemic, reporting nearly 30,000 of the country's 95,000 deaths, according to John Hopkins.
Meanwhile, Florida is choosing to loosen social distancing guidelines and other restrictions.
The Yankees' spring complex is located in Tampa while the Mets train in St. Lucie.
