Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dustin May will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow May 11, the team announced Monday.
Pitchers' expected recovery time following the procedure is 12-15 months.
May winced after delivering a pitch in the second inning of his start Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers and left the game with a trainer.
The 23-year-old owns a 2.74 ERA and 3.07 FIP in 23 innings across five starts for the Dodgers this season. The former top pitching prospect finished fifth in NL Rookie of the Year voting in 2020.
