The San Francisco Giants have expressed interest in Kansas City Royals starter Danny Duffy, sources told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Duffy landed on the injured list Tuesday with a left flexor strain, which could keep him out into August. He missed time earlier in the season with a similar injury.

But the Giants could still look to acquire the southpaw for the stretch run, potentially adding him to a rotation that features Kevin Gausman, Anthony DeSclafani, Johnny Cueto, and Alex Wood. Duffy owns a 2.51 ERA over 12 starts and one relief appearance this season.

The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly also interested in Duffy, who won a World Series with the Royals in 2015. The Giants, Dodgers, and Padres are locked in a three-way battle for NL West supremacy.

Duffy, 32, is in the final season of a five-year, $65-million contract.
