It looks like Marcus Stroman is a popular free-agent target this winter.

Five teams - the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants - are interested in the 30-year-old right-hander, sources told Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.

The addition of Stroman would give Boston's starting rotation a formidable front three with Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi already in the fold.

The 107-win Giants, meanwhile, appear to be on the hunt for more pitching after re-signing starters Anthony DeSclafani and Alex Wood. San Francisco has also been connected to a potential reunion with Kevin Gausman.

The Angels are trying to improve a weak area of their roster by signing proven starters. They already inked Stroman's former Mets teammate Noah Syndergaard to a one-year deal and have also been linked to Gausman.

New York lost Syndergaard to L.A. in free agency and is familiar with Stroman after he spent the past season-and-a-half with the club. The rebuilding Cubs could boast a strong top of their rotation if Stroman joins Kyle Hendricks and Wade Miley.

Stroman finished the 2021 campaign with a 3.02 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 33 starts for the Mets. The groundball specialist was fifth in the majors with a 50.8 groundball percentage and posted his lowest marks in FIP and walks per nine innings since his impressive 2014 rookie season.

The native of Medford, New York, isn't tied to draft-pick compensation after accepting a qualifying offer last season.
