MLB Network analyst and former major-leaguer Mark DeRosa will manage Team USA at next year's World Baseball Classic, general manager Tony Reagins announced Friday, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

DeRosa made stops with eight clubs in his 16-year career. He posted a .751 OPS with 100 home runs and 494 RBIs in 1,241 games.

"I'm completely honored and humbled to be named manager of Team USA," DeRosa said Friday.

"Competing in the 2009 World Baseball Classic for Team USA was one of the greatest experiences of my baseball journey. Getting the chance to lead this star-studded roster and represent our country is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I can't wait to get started."

The United States is the defending champion and is set to send a loaded roster to the tournament in an attempt to secure another title.

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper, and St. Louis Cardinals All-Star duo Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado are among the names who have committed to play.

The 2023 World Baseball Classic is scheduled to run from March 8-21 and is expanding the number of teams from 16 to 20.
