Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero will participate in this year's Home Run Derby in Philadelphia.

Caminero is the first participant to be confirmed for the event, which is set to take place July 13.

The 22-year-old will participate in the Home Run Derby for a second consecutive season. He hit 44 homers in last year's event before ultimately losing to Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh in the finals.

Caminero has quickly become one of MLB's elite sluggers through the early stages of his career. He hit 45 homers last season and enters Tuesday with 22 round-trippers this year, which is tied for the third most in the American League with Ben Rice of the New York Yankees.

This year's Home Run Derby will operate under revised rules, with the clock being removed.
