The Pittsburgh Pirates activated rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin from the 60-day injured list Friday, the team announced.
Pittsburgh immediately slotted Griffin into Friday's lineup, where he will bat sixth and play shortstop against the Los Angeles Angels.
Griffin missed the last 50 games after suffering a finger ligament injury in early July.
The Pirates went 23-27 without their 20-year-old phenom, who entered the season as baseball's top-ranked prospect.
Griffin has five homers with 25 RBIs, 20 stolen bases, and a .736 OPS over 59 games this season. He's missed 72 contests in all, as he was sidelined for 22 games from late May to late June because of a forearm flexor strain.
Pittsburgh also recalled reliever Isaac Mattson, optioned left-hander Brandon Eisert, and designated catcher Christian Bethancourt for assignment amid the roster shuffle.
The Pirates entered Friday's action five games out of the NL's final wild-card spot.
