Report: Rockets nearing 3-year, non-guaranteed deal with Exum

The Houston Rockets are nearing a three-year, non-guaranteed deal with free-agent guard Dante Exum, sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

The proposed contract is reportedly worth $15 million, with incentives accounting for roughly half of the amount.

Exum's average minutes and plus-minus are apparently among the incentives being discussed by both parties.

Houston acquired the 2014 No. 5 overall pick last January as part of the James Harden blockbuster deal. However, Exum didn't play a game for the Rockets due to a calf injury suffered earlier in the 2020-21 campaign.

Staying healthy has been an issue for the 6-foot-5 guard throughout his career. He was limited to six appearances last season and has played only 97 contests over the previous four campaigns.

Exum owns career averages of 5.7 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 boards across six seasons. He won a bronze medal with Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 26-year-old would provide additional backcourt depth for Houston behind Kevin Porter and rookie Jalen Green.
