The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Julius Randle and the No. 28 overall pick in the NBA draft to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Chicago will acquire center Nic Claxton in the deal, while Minnesota is receiving the No. 33 overall pick, adds Charania.
The Timberwolves later used the financial flexibility from the move to re-sign Ayo Dosunmu and can utilize the $15-million non-tax mid-level exception and the $5.5-million biannual exception, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Minnesota also created a $33.3-million trade exception in the process.
The T-Wolves acquired Randle from the New York Knicks as part of the Karl-Anthony Towns trade in 2024. The 31-year-old averaged 21.1 points, 6.7 boards, five assists, and 1.1 steals across 79 appearances last season.
Randle will make $33.3 million next season and holds a $35.8-million player option for 2026-27.
Meanwhile, Claxton fills the Bulls' need for a starting center. The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 11.7 points, 6.9 boards, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks over 69 appearances last campaign. He has two more seasons remaining on his contract.
Claxton spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Nets after being taken 31st overall in 2019.
Chicago has approximately $31 million in cap space following the trade, per Marks.
