Demidov still has one more season left on his entry-level contract, so the extension will kick in to begin the 2027-28 campaign. The deal is currently slated to make him Montreal's highest-paid forward and second-highest paid player overall behind Noah Dobson.
The contract includes a 10-team no-trade list in the last three years, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Demidov tallied 19 goals and 62 points in 82 games in 2025-26. He added nine points in 19 playoff appearances.
The 20-year-old joined the Canadiens late in the 2024-25 campaign, burning the first year of his entry-level deal.
Montreal drafted the Russian winger fifth overall in 2024.
