The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Brandt Clarke to a five-year contract extension with a $7.4-million cap hit, the team announced Friday.
Clarke recorded a career-high eight goals and 40 points in 82 games last season. He added one assist in four playoff contests.
The 23-year-old was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1. He becomes the Kings' second-highest cap hit among their defensemen behind Drew Doughty.
Clarke has 15 goals and 81 points in 185 career games over parts of four campaigns. He became a full-time NHLer in 2024-25.
The Kings drafted Clarke eighth overall in 2021.
