The Columbus Blue Jackets are listening to teams calling about Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Zach Werenski, sources told TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
The Blue Jackets are aware that Werenski is unlikely to sign a contract extension, reports LeBrun.
Werenski is signed through the 2027-28 season at a cap hit just over $9.5 million, and his pact contains a full no-movement clause. He's eligible to ink an extension on July 1, 2027.
The 28-year-old recorded 22 goals and 81 points in 75 games this campaign and was named the NHL's top defenseman. Werenski also won Olympic gold with Team USA in February.
Werenski ranks second in scoring among defensemen over the past two seasons, behind only Colorado Avalanche star Cale Makar. He finished second in Norris Trophy voting in 2024-25.
Drafted eighth overall by the Blue Jackets in 2015, Werenski has racked up 135 goals and 465 points in 642 career games over 10 seasons in Columbus.
