The San Jose Sharks signed free-agent forward Mason Marchment to a five-year contract with an average annual value of $6.75 million, the team announced Wednesday.
Marchment recorded 19 goals and 26 assists with the Seattle Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets last season. Columbus acquired Marchment from Seattle for fourth- and second-round picks.
The 31-year-old had his best season in 2023-24 with the Dallas Stars, posting 22 goals and 31 assists with a plus-22 rating. He's coming off a four-year, $18-million contract he signed with Dallas in 2022.
Marchment's father, Bryan, played in 334 games with the Sharks across six seasons from 1997-2002.
The Sharks have been active on the first day of free agency, as they also reportedly signed defenseman Jacob Trouba to a four-year contract worth $8.25 million per season.
San Jose went 39-35-8 last campaign and has missed the playoffs in seven consecutive seasons.
