The Milwaukee Brewers acquired catcher Bo Naylor and right-hander Codi Heuer from the Cleveland Guardians for right-hander Craig Yoho and outfielder Blake Perkins, the teams announced Saturday.
Naylor and Heuer will both report to Triple-A.
Naylor, a former first-round pick, provides the Brewers with additional catching depth behind starter William Contreras and backup Gary Sánchez. Milwaukee acquired Naylor to increase its depth and doesn't intend to trade Sánchez, reports The Athletic's Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal.
The 26-year-old Naylor served as Cleveland's starting backstop before being demoted to the minors in May after hitting .143/.200/.238 in 28 games.
Heuer, like Naylor, has spent most of this season in the minors. The 30-year-old's made 97 big-league appearances throughout his career, authoring a 3.76 ERA in 105 1/3 innings.
Yoho, 26, has pitched to a 3.15 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 15 appearances out of Milwaukee's bullpen this season. Opposing hitters are batting just .132 against the right-hander.
The 29-year-old Perkins owns a career .223/.307/.330 slash line with 14 homers and 93 RBIs in 297 games. He has experience playing all three outfield positions.
