Colorado has offered Jackson State sideline boss Deion Sanders a head coaching job, Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reports.

Sanders has "legit interest" in taking the job, Feldman adds.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer has orchestrated an immediate turnaround at Jackson State since arriving in 2020 after the program went 4-8. Sanders has compiled a 26-5 record and finished 2022 with the Tigers' first undefeated season at 11-0.

The Buffaloes are seeking a replacement for Karl Dorrell, who the school fired in October following a 0-5 start. He assembled an 8-15 record in 23 games.

Colorado has struggled for the better part of a decade, securing just one winning campaign (10-4, 2016) over their past 17. The Buffaloes enter the final week of the regular season at 1-10.

Sanders' potential addition would provide a significant boost for a program that was once a powerhouse. "Coach Prime" is noted as one of the best recruiters at his position in the country, adding talented recruits such as Travis Hunter during his Jackson State tenure.

This isn't Sanders' first brush with a Power 5 opening. Last offseason he interviewed with TCU and Colorado State for their respective vacancies.

The two-time Super Bowl winner is set to coach Jackson State in the SWAC Championship Game on Dec. 3.
