The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Charlie Coyle to a six-year contract extension with a $6-million average annual value, the team announced Tuesday.
Coyle was set to be one of the top unrestricted free agent centers available July 1. His previous contract carried a $5.25-million cap hit.
The 34-year-old netted 20 goals and 58 points while playing all 82 games this season. Coyle ranked fourth on the Blue Jackets in scoring.
"Charlie made a tremendous impact on and off the ice for us last season, and keeping him in Columbus was a priority," Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell said in a statement. "He's the definition of a true pro and a durable, reliable, productive right-shot center whose leadership, character, and consistency are extremely valuable in this league."
Coyle notched a career-high 25 goals and 60 points during the 2023-24 campaign as a member of the Boston Bruins.
The Massachusetts native has accumulated 209 goals and 543 points in 1,032 career games with the Minnesota Wild, Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Blue Jackets.
Columbus acquired Coyle and forward Miles Wood from the Avalanche in June 2025 for forward Gavin Brindley and two draft picks.
