The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted forward Markus Ruck 39th overall on Saturday, one day after selecting his twin brother, Liam, in the first round at No. 22.
The Ruck brothers suited up together for the Medicine Hat Tigers this past season, and were the top two scorers in the WHL. Liam and Markus entered the draft ranked by Central Scouting as the 20th and 23rd North American skaters, respectively.
Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas was open about targeting Markus on Day 2 after selecting Liam.
"I think at the combine they said they'd spent four nights apart total in their whole lives," Dubas said Friday, per Penguins reporter Michelle Crechiolo. "So I think that would make sense, if that's the way the board falls tomorrow."
The Ruck brothers will play the 2026-27 season in Medicine Hat and are both committed to the University of North Dakota for 2027-28.
