Ryan Reaves announced his retirement on Instagram on Wednesday following a 16-season NHL career.
Reaves played last campaign for the San Jose Sharks, scoring three goals and logging 37 penalty minutes in 50 games. He sustained a hand injury in a fight on March 21 that kept him out for the rest of the season.
The 39-year-old was an unrestricted free agent.
Reaves ends his career with 66 goals, 140 points, and 1,137 penalty minutes in 962 games between the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Sharks.
Reaves also played in 113 playoff games, adding three goals, nine points, and 116 penalty minutes.
Since entering the league in 2010, Reaves ranks fourth in hits with 3,225 and fifth in penalty minutes.
A feared enforcer on the ice, Reaves posted a career-high 126 penalty minutes in 2013-14 with the Blues. The Winnipeg native's most productive season came with the Golden Knights in 2018-19, when he scored nine goals and totaled 20 points.
