Taylor returns to Dodgers on 4-year deal reportedly worth $60M

Chris Taylor isn't going anywhere after all.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are keeping Taylor in the fold, as they signed the All-Star utility man to a four-year contract Wednesday.

The deal is worth $60 million, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, and it contains a fifth-year option that can up the agreement's total value to $73 million.

Taylor blossomed into an important piece of the Dodgers' arsenal over the last six years. He became a first-time All-Star last season, hitting .254/.344/.438 with 20 homers, 73 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 2021 while appearing regularly at five different positions. Though he slumped a bit in the second half, Taylor enjoyed a stellar postseason at the plate and hit a walk-off home run in the NL wild-card game.

The 31-year-old declined the Dodgers' qualifying offer earlier this winter. Prior to re-signing with L.A., he'd been drawing interest from a number of teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, and Washington Nationals.

Taylor's re-signing comes after the Dodgers lost star shortstop Corey Seager to the Texas Rangers in free agency.
